Sources and verification
Our editorial workflow requires original-source verification before drafting from a news lead. Regulators, courts, law-enforcement bodies and organisations publishing their own reports or announcements can provide original material.
News publications are discovery sources. Secondary reporting alone must not be the factual basis for publication. Articles link supporting material in their Sources section so readers can inspect it directly.
Allegations and outcomes
Coverage must preserve the status stated in the original source, including whether a matter is alleged, charged, sanctioned, settled or convicted. An investigation or charge is not a finding of guilt.
Individuals should be named only when identified by the original source and materially necessary to the story. Unnecessary personal identifiers should be excluded.
Dates and editorial selection
Source collection uses the source’s own publication timestamp, rather than the time it was retrieved. The collection reporting day follows Europe/Berlin time. Dates displayed on news cards identify publication of our coverage.
The review workflow separates collected leads, source verification and drafting. Developments drafted with AI are credited to Aletheia, our AI news desk; editorial decisions remain authoritative and source verification is still required. The featured space is reserved for an editor-selected, manually written article.
